Most people suffering from acne will probably agree that it is a very embarrassing and troublesome condition. What makes it worse is that acne appears on the face, making it almost impossible to conceal.

While there seems to be a ton of solutions for the treatment of acne, unfortunately, not all acne treatments will work for everyone. Therefore, there are really no such things as the best acne treatments.

Certain treatments will work very well for some people, while totally ineffective for others. In fact, a person can try out many different types of treatment before he or she finds a treatment that is effective.

One of the reasons why this is so is because acne is a rather complicated condition that is not totally understood. The cause of acne can be very different from one person to the other. Furthermore, there are also many different types of acne. That is the reason why there are so many acne treatments available.

Below, we will briefly discuss some ways of treating acne. A point to note is that the effectiveness of those treatments varies from person to person.

1) A change in diet and skin care routine

For some people, this can be a very effective way in controlling or eliminating their acne. A healthy, balanced diet increases the well being of a person, strengthening the immune system. This may in turn result in a healthier skin.

Generally, the face should be washed two times daily using a mild cleaning agent for the face. Do note that it is usually not a good idea to wash your face too many times in a day. Doing so can make the situation worse, resulting in irritation and even more breakout.

Unless you are specifically told to do so by a qualified professional, or have a specific reason, do not wash your face too often.

2) Using non-prescription medications

Common examples of non prescription medications include pads, strips, astringents or creams. These medications can be very effective for mild to moderate acne. Do note that it is very important to observe any possible side effects after using them.

For example, some acne creams or astringents can make the skin so dry, it is as if trading one condition for the other. If this occurs, it is best to stop using them immediately.

3) Using prescription medications

Prescription medications are usually for moderate to more severe case of acnes. If your acne condition is relative mild, e.g. having one pimples or two, then you may not need them.

4) Wait

Sometimes, waiting may be a good option. For some people, the acne will simply disappear over time. This may work for people with mild cases of acne. However, if you are having a very severe case of acne break out, it is best to seek proper treatment as soon as possible. You may want to consider consulting a doctor if the condition is too serious.

The Elusive Acne Treatment

Feeling frustrated after trying over countless acne medications ?Are you wondering why they never works on your acne but performs wonderfully on your friends or acquaintance acne? You might start to ask yourself what is actually wrong with yourself and ponder the reasons for your acne stubborn existence on your skin. Be patient. Don’t ever give up. There is actually a very simple method in treating your acne successfully.

We are recommending a combination of three steps to achieve an blemish-free skin.

Start off your treatment with a gentle cleanser.Don’ be bother if it doesn’t lather much. The ingredient that causes the foams is actually bad for your skin.It might provoke your acne lesions and cause more new lesions to form. What you want to achieve here is to remove dirt from your skin before applying the acne medications.

Topical treatment containing benzoyl peroxide is the most effective acne treatment that is available in the market. It kills the P. acnes bacteria that causes your acne lesions. By enriching the pores with oxygen, the P.acnes bacteria that stay at the base of the follicle get kill off. Plus the fact that even with continuous usage, the P.acnes bacteria won’t become resistant to it. That is why it is used in combination with various oral antibiotics to treat acne. As oral antibiotics can become resistant after prolonged usage, the medication containing benzoyl peroxide provides a good companion in minimising the resistance of the acne causing bacteria toward the acne treatments.

Most acne treatments fail in that acne sufferers often give up too soon and put too much of acne medications to their skin. You have to do it gradually.Do you know that your skin can adapt to the drying effect of benzoyl peroxide but it takes time.By now,you should have heard of the side effect of benzoyl peroxide which is its strong drying effecting on your skin. So select the lowest concentration of benzoyl peroxide n (2.5%) available in the market to minimize the drying and irritation it is going to cause on your skin.

We would like to ask you how long did you continue to try a new acne treatment before giving in? One week? Two weeks? Actually you should continue the usage for about a month before you can expect any significant results. Most people just give up too early. Initially, you might get a lot of new lesion breakouts which make you give up earlier. If you have many comedones (blackheads and whiteheads), using treatment containing benzoyl peroxide will drive the comedone contents consisting of dead skin cells, dead bacteria and sebum to the skin surface.Unless you belong to the 10% of the acne sufferers who are allergic to benzoyl peroxide, you should give yourself a try again at benzoyl peroxide.

The next question is how much of the medication should you put.Just apply a thin coating of the acne medication covering your acne prone skin. Do not rub the medications on your skin. A gentle sweeping motion will do as you wouldn’t want to irritate your skin to giving you more acne flare.

Benzoyl peroxide can come in gel, lotion, cream or ointment. It is best to use the gel type if you have oily skin. For people with dry skin,go for the cream. If you still find benzoyl peroxide is too strong for your skin, go for the cleanser.Even though the cleanser cream only stay on your skin for minutes,it is sufficient to kill off those acne prone bacteria. If you have sensitive skin which are easily irritated, first go for the benzoyl peroxide cleanser. See how is your skin react to it before switching to another products.

Another way to minimize the drying effects of benzoyl peroxide is followed by an application of moisturizer after the benzoyl peroxide medications.Use a moisturizer with SPF 15 or more during the day time while at night choose a more creamier moisturizer .A higher SPF rating only offer a slightly higher protection from the UVB from the sunray but can cause premature aging. So it is sufficient to use a SPF rating of 15.

As your skin can adapt to the drying of benzoyl peroxide, you should also adjust the frequency and quantity of usage in response to your skin reaction. We feel that applying benzoyl peroxide for twice a day is sufficient. In a nutshell, you can see that if you have mild to moderate acne, benzoyl peroxide will work provided that you adjust your frequency and quantity of treatment as you progress in using the treatments. Don’t let impatience fails you in treating your acne problems.

Acne - Best Acne Treatments

What is the best acne treatment? Really that is the $64,000 question as what works for someone may not work for someone else due to many factors, such as the cause of the acne (is it through nutrition or hormonal?) and also, the way peoples skin types vary so much has a bearing on what is the best acne treatment for that individual. However there are lots of remedies out there, some chemical, some natural so we are going to look at some of them in the hope that we will find the one that suits you best. However, before jumping in with any treatment you may want to ask the opinion of your physician or your dermatologist about your choice of treatment, just to make sure. That said, lets look at some of the available remedies.

Applying a topical anti-bacterial gel, cream or lotion is commonly thought to be one of the best acne treatments for mild to moderate complaints. The good thing about these treatment is that you do not necessarily need to see a doctor first as they can be bought over the counter and a qualified chemist should be able to help you pick the one that is right for you. Products intended for treating acne normally contain active surface – molecules (heavy detergents), multiple scrubbing particles, alcohol, menthol, mint, camphor, eucalyptus, lemon and grapefruit oils. However, try not to choose anything with too much alcohol in it and avoid putting neat alcohol on the affected area, as this can make the skin worse by drying it out.

A treatment that is quickly gaining popularity from acne sufferers is Tea Tree Oil. Tea tree oil, also known as Melaleuca Oil comes from a tree in Australia, and if you buy a good make of it, it should be almost 100% natural product. Because tea tree oil is antibacterial, it helps to prevent acne breakouts caused by bacteria. Now research has been done into the effects of tea tree oil and what they have found is that tea tree oil is practically just as effective as 5% benzoyl peroxide (this is what they use to make a lot of acne products with) but interestingly, the teat tree oil has nearly no side effects, whilst comparably, 79% of benzoyl peroxide users report side effects including red, itchy, and dry skin.

A treatment which although costly, is becoming hugely popular is Laser acne treatments. However, this is not really intended for mild acne, as it is quite a serious treatment and is intended for the more severe forms of acne. Laser acne treatment is very effective as not only can it be used for clearing up the acne itself, but for those that have suffered acne scarring, then laser acne treatment can also help to reduce the visual effects of the scars. As mentioned before Laser acne treatment is not cheap but it is very effective, and this is why it is so popular amongst severe acne sufferers.

I have left until last what I believe is the best acne treatment, and that is really down to good diet and taking care of yourself. Eating properly can help you avoid having acne as it can help your skin to stop producing the wrong chemicals, and it also means you are not carrying as much toxic waste in your body. So you need to be cutting out the fried, fast and processed food and start getting more fruit and veg in to your diet. Additionally, you will be helping yourself if you cut out fizzy drinks and too much caffeine, and increase your water intake as this will help to flush out impurities. The benefits of this are enormous as not only will your skin start to clear up, but you will also start to notice other health benefits too.
